![]() The most recent piece of gear I had so far was my Roland MC-50 sequencer from 1990. I already own the Yamaha DX-7 II (1987), the Roland D-50 (1987), the Roland Alpha Juno-2 (1985), the Roland S-50 sampler with the CRT monitor (aka the "Poor Man's Fairlight" from 1986), the Korg M-1 (1988) and the Roland TR-707 (1985). Now, my personal rule so far had been to only buy 1980s synths. WHAT?! For that price, the owner was willing to include midi and audio cables, the original floppy disks, the owner's manual AND and a soft bag. For comparison, Korg sold around 250,000 M-1s.Ī few days ago, against all odds, I saw a WSA1 appear on Marketplace in my hometown. Long story short: Technics failed to market this beast properly and it was a gigantic commercial flop, so much so that apparently, only 600 of them were built. Back in its time, it was meant to be a very high-end digital synth, with an initial price tag of $5,000. Many times I heard about the one and only synth ever made by Technics: the SX-WSA1, released in 1995. * GEAR ACQUISITION SYNDROME TRIGGER WARNING! * ![]()
